Students are identified as candidates for application based on their GPA. Candidates are given a Student Activity Form to complete and return to the NHS sponsor, Ms. Wheeler. On this form, students will detail their co-curricular, extracurricular, and service activities. They will also detail their Leadership Positions, and list any awards or recognitions they have received. The final part of the Student Activity Form is an essay that students must complete.
The current year core-content teachers for each candidate rate their character, as demonstrated in the classroom.
Once the Student Activity form and the teacher ratings have been completed, a 5-member faculty council reviews all the information presented for each candidate. The council considers all aspects and votes on each candidate. Three votes are required for selection.
Candidates who are selected for induction are notified during the campus’ key ceremony.
